I AM the Good Shepherd
Jesus said,
“I am the Good Shepherd;
I know my sheep
and my sheep know me –
just as the Father knows me
and I know the Father –
and I lay down my life
for the sheep.”
John 10:14-15
I AM the Light of the World
Consider the purpose of light in creation.
It reveals something hidden,
it illuminates what is beautiful, it gives warmth,
it causes growth, it literally sustains life.
Now think about some of
the doubts, questions or fears you have right now.
Jesus knows these concerns.
Ask Him to shine His Light on them.
Light a candle and pray something like this:
Jesus, You are good! As I light this candle,
You can shine Your good Light into the dark areas of my life and even the dark areas of my thoughts. Please chase away the darkness and reveal what is True, good, beautiful, and life-sustaining. Amen
Jesus said,
“I am the light of the world.
Whoever follows me
will never walk in darkness,
but will have the light of life.”
John 8:12
I AM the Gate
What do you think it means for you to go in and out and find pasture?
What would that look like in your life right now?
Consider walking through the gate
and pray something like this:
Jesus, please show me a picture
of the fullness of life you have for me.
Then bless me with the courage
to go in and out of the gate
and find sweet pasture
and sweet purpose for God’s glory. Amen
Jesus said,
“I am the gate,
whoever enters though me will be saved.
He will come in and go out
and find pasture.
The thief comes only to steal
and kill and destroy,
I have come that they may have life
and have it to the full.
John 10:9-11
I AM the Resurrection and the Life
Jesus has the power to resurrect!
Not only Lazarus, not only His own body,
but also us!
Not only our souls for eternity,
but even situations in our lives,
even parts of who we are.
Wholeness!
Do you believe this?
- What aspect of your life or who you are feels lifeless or broken?
- In our study, Lysa says “my goal…is not behavior modification but total heart transformation.” What does this mean to you?
Compare the lifeless bulbs with the beautiful flowers. Then pray something like this:
Jesus, You are the Redeemer and Restorer!
Please give me perseverance to pray
all the way through the process
until wholeness springs forth in my life. Amen
Jesus said,
“I am the resurrection and the life.
He who believes in me will live
even though he dies,
and whoever lives and believes in me
will never die.
Do you believe this?”
John 11:2
I AM the Way, and the Truth, and the Life
What is comforting to you about this statement?
Does anything about this statement cause you discomfort?
Look at the open Bible
And consider the love that has traveled from generation
to generation to you
and pray something like this:
Jesus, thank you for preserving your Word through the generations!
Your Word is Truth!
Help me to know You more
so that I can follow You more.
Please use me to show others the Way. Amen
Jesus said,
“I am the Way, And the Truth,
And the Life. No one comes to the Father
Except through me.”
John 14:6
I AM the True Vine
When we have accepted Jesus as our Savior,
we are able to “bear fruit.”
We are able to grow spiritually,
help others grow spiritually,
and build God’s Kingdom.
Write your name on a leaf
and attach to the vine.
Eat a grape and enjoy
the sweetness of good fruit.
And pray something like this:
Jesus, I want to stay connected to You!
You give me life! And I know that all of the accomplishments in my life, mean something only because of You. May my life and the fruit I bear glorify the Father. Amen
Jesus said,
“I am the True Vine,
and my Father is the gardener. He cuts off every branch
in me that bears no fruit,
while every branch
that does bear fruit, he prunes, so that it will be
even more fruitful.”
John 15:1
Living Water
We drink water to quench our physical thirst.
We need Jesus to quench our spiritual thirst.
Jesus gives us spiritual life.
Zoe life!
Enjoy a cup of refreshing water
and pray something like this:
Jesus, You refresh my soul!
On a daily basis,
help me to be in tune with
my spiritual needs as much as my physical needs.
Amen
Jesus said,
“Whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.”
John 6:35
Last Supper
“And he took bread, gave thanks
and broke it, and gave it to them,
saying, “This is my body given for you;
do this in remembrance of me.”
In the same way,
after the supper he took the cup,
saying, “This cup is the new covenant
in my blood, which is poured out for you.”
Luke 22:19-20
Take the bread and dip it in the cup
and pray something like this:
Jesus, thank you for sacrificing your body
and spilling your blood for me.
You paid the debt for my sins.
All because you love me. Such a gift! Amen
Jesus said,
“I am the Bread of Life.
Whoever comes to me
will never go hungry.”
John 6:35
