worship quoteThis week in Summer Soul Care our theme is Worship. Worship at its core is a response. For example our scripture this week is Psalm 8:1-4. In this scripture the Psalmist is responding as he considers the works of God. Psalm 8:1-4 says,

Lord, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth! You have set your glory in the heavens. Through the praise of children and infants you have established a stronghold against your enemies, to silence the foe and the avenger. When I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, what is mankind that you are mindful of them, human beings that you care for them?”

There is a sense of awe and wonder in this portion of scripture. I think the psalmist gets the vast greatness of God in such a way he almost loses words to describe Him.

I once read a quote by Francis Chan, “Isn’t it a comfort to worship a God we cannot exaggerate?” Here’s the thing…you can use all the words at your disposal until you run out but you could NEVER exaggerate God. Go ahead and try. Worship Him with everything you have. Worship Him in everything you do. Worship until you run out of words.

Don’t miss the opportunity. Take notice of Him in everything and everyone around you. Then, worship Him in song. Worship Him in prayer. Worship in a walk through the woods. Worship Him as you look like Him in the check out line at the grocery. Worship Him in silence. Or, worship Him as you stare at a starlit night sky.

It doesn’t matter the mode of transportation for worship…it just matters that you do it. It matters for you. Because when we worship it reminds us of who God is and who we are not. It keeps our pride in check and our reverence of God in tact. Just worship!

What is your favorite way to worship God?
